GM shows off preparations for launch of Chevrolet Cruze

LORDSTOWN — General Motors officials today showed off the work being done at the Lordstown complex to prepare for the launch of the Chevrolet Cruze in April.

Included in the $351 million upgrade is the installation of 300 new robots and 500 robots from other GM plants and changes that are designed to make the assembly line more efficient.

Michele Lambert, Cruze launch manager, told a group of reporters the work is on schedule. Completion of construction in the assembly plant is to be done July 12. Renovations to the fabricating plant are to be done in August.

Production then will begin on test models of GM’s new small car.
