Food drive scheduled for Saturday

Columbiana County Organizing for America is having a healthy food drive in conjunction with National Health Care Day of Service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday .

The purpose of the event is to help those in need during difficult economic times, while promoting good nutrition and wellness.

Collection points are: East Liverpool Motor Lodge, Calcutta Giant Eagle, Downtown East Liverpool Giant Eagle and Salem Giant Eagle.

Residents are urged to donate nonperishable food items such as tuna, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, bread, peanut butter, oatmeal packets, canned vegetables, canned potatoes and canned tomatoes. Donations will go to county food banks.

The Columbiana County Healthy Food Drive is just one of several events throughout the country being planned in conjunction with Organizing for America’s National Health Care Day of Service.
