Ex-Cleveland cop gets year in prison on sex count
CLEVELAND (AP) — A former Cleveland police officer sobbed as a judge sentenced him to one year in prison for having sex with a prostitute while on duty.
Judge John Russo sentenced 43-year-old Duhamel Torres on Tuesday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on his guilty plea to sexual battery and tampering with records.
After stopping a known prostitute, Torres used his police computer to get personal information about the woman, including her address and outstanding warrants. Authorities said he offered to drive her home but instead went to a secluded area and engaged in a sex act with her.
Torres’ attorney, Patrick D’Angelo, says the act was consensual and the woman was paid $5.
