Erie County, Pa., confirms first two swine flu cases
ERIE, Pa. (AP) — The Erie County Health Department says tests have confirmed two children are the first to be diagnosed with swine flu in the county.
Officials aren’t identifying the children and say neither had to be hospitalized, though they confirmed both were between 6 and 18 years old.
Neither child was hospitalized when they became ill in mid-June with high fevers, coughs and sore throats. Neither child remains contagious.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has now confirmed nearly 1,400 swine flu cases in 41 counties.
