Come out on Friday, Saturday to Celebrate Poland

POLAND — The annual Celebrate Poland festival begins Friday with a strawberry festival and continues through Saturday with crafts, games and contests.

Festival goers can find Civil War encampments at the Poland Village Hall all day Friday and stay for the strawberry festival in the Poland Presbyterian Church at 5 p.m.

The first day of the festival will conclude with a parade at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 10:30 p.m.

The second day of the festival kicks off with a craft show, poetry and a car show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It also features “Chalk It Up for Poland,” an art exhibition on the township’s sidewalks, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Poland Idol,” a local imitation of the popular television show “American Idol,” will begin at noon. Contestants, who will compete against other singers of similar age, can sign up to participate as late as 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
