YOUNGSTOWN — The trial of a Youngstown State University union president charged with one count of menacing has been delayed until Aug. 5.
Ivan Maldonado, 41, of Boardman, was scheduled to go to trial today on the allegation he made threatening comments to another member of the Association of Classified Employees union at the university in a March 10 telephone call. He appeared in court with his lawyer J. Gerald Ingram.
The university placed Maldonado on paid administrative leave March 13, based on the menacing report filed with university police. He remains president of the 380-member union.
Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. said the defense filed a motion for a jury trial, so today’s trial date was converted to a pre-trial hearing.
