Leavittsburg woman charged with stabbing her grandmother

NEWTON FALLS — Crystal R. Goodrich, 29, of Leavittsburg, has been taken into custody and charged with kidnapping and attempted aggravated murder after police said she stabbed her 81-year-old grandmother at the grandmother’s Ridge Road apartment.

Newton Falls police were called to the victim’s apartment around 12:15 p.m. today.

Police Chief John M. Kuivila said the victim was taken to the emergency room at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. A hospital representative said no information about the victim could be released as of Monday night.

Goodrich will be arraigned Tuesday in Newton Falls Municipal Court, Kuivila said.
