LAWYERS
Henry Parcinski of East Liverpool received his Juris Doctor degree from Ave Maria School of Law, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Parcinski was part of the last graduating class from Michigan. The law school relocates to Naples, Fla., in July.
The son of Dr. Henry J. Parcinski Jr. and Linda Parcinski, Parcinski earned his undergraduate degree at Ohio State University. He plans to take the bar examination for the state of Colorado this summer.
DOCTORATEs
Two local women received their doctorate of nursing practice degrees from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. They are Valerie Duda O’Dell of Warren and Susan Martinko Lisko of Canfield.
Dr. O’Dell’s doctoral research focused on the effect of simulation on nursing students’ critical-thinking abilities.
She received her registered nursing diploma from Mercy School of Nursing in Canton. She completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing cum laude from Youngstown State University and earned her master’s degree in nursing with a focus on maternal-child nursing from Kent State University.
Dr. O’Dell is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is an assistant professor of nursing at YSU. She has been in nursing education for the past 24 years and is a 1976 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School.
She lives in Warren with her husband, Edward, and children, Megan and Brian. She is the daughter of Walter and Rose Duda.
Dr. Lisko’s doctoral research focused on the effect of simulation on nursing students’ critical-thinking abilities.
She received her registered nursing diploma from St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center’s School of Nursing in Youngstown. She completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing cum laude from YSU and received her master’s degree in nursing degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pa.
Lisko also is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and is an assistant professor of nursing at YSU. She has been in nursing education for the past 24 years. She is a 1973 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School.
Lisko lives in Canfield with her husband, John, and son, John III. She is the daughter of Betty Martinko and the late Donald J. Martinko.
Allison Renee Webel, formerly of Canfield, has received her doctorate in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco.
Her doctoral research was exploring how peer-based interventions can help women living with HIV/AIDS better manage their symptoms.
While pursuing her doctorate, Dr. Webel served as a clinical education at St. Francis Hospital and the San Francisco Department of Public Health and was an instructor at San Francisco State University.
Webel graduated from Canfield High School in 1999 and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing and sociology from Ohio State University in 2004. While at OSU, Webel served as vice president of the National Student Nurses Association, and she was named one of 20 outstanding senior students.
Webel, and her husband, Chris Longenecker, will move to Shaker Heights, Ohio, later this month. Her husband will be a fellow in cardiology, and Webel has accepted a faculty position with Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals in Cleveland.
She is the daughter of John Webel of New Middletown and Sandie Faris of Salem.
DOCTORS
Keristen Lynn Brantley of Youngstown has received her medical degree in radiology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Dr. Brantley is the daughter of Gary and Lynn Brantley. She began her education at Calvary Christian Academy and is a graduate of Chaney High School. She received a full academic scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.
During her medical training in Cincinnati, she was the recipient of many awards including the merit scholarship, the Cincinnati Medical Association Scholarship for outstanding achievements in medical school, and the Golden Scalpel Award.
Dr. Brantley has accepted a position with the Cincinnati Diagnostic Radiology residency program, where she will begin her profession as a diagnostic radiologist.
Jasmine Marie Pagan of Campbell has received her medical degree with high honors from Ross University School of Medicine in the Caribbean.
She is the daughter of Rodrigo Pagan Jr. and Jasmine A. Pagan of Campbell.
Dr. Pagan, a 2001 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 2005. She has accepted a pediatric residency at St. Joseph Hospital, Phoenix.
