Campeans plan cruise, dinner to mark their 50th

BOARDMAN — Preparing to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this year are John and Mildred Campean, 8092 Glenwood Ave.

Mr. Campean and the former Mildred Charnoki were marriedin 1959 at Holy Name Church in Youngstown. The couple’s four children and their spouses will extend invitations for a dinner party honoring them at Johnny’s Banquet Center on July 12.

The children are John and Cindy Campean of Canton, Mich.; Mary Beth Campean of Rocky River; Tim and Jeannette Hilk of Saginaw, Mich.; and Tom and Cassandra Campean of North Lima. The family includes five grandchildren.

The Campeans also plan to celebrate on a Western Caribbean cruise with their family.

Mrs. Campean worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Co. from 1951 to 1964. She worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block from 1983 until she retired in 2003. She is a member of St. Charles Church in Boardman, the Youngstown Symphony Guild, Gleaners Garden Club, Garden Club of Ohio, Ohio Judges Council, BIAA, Garden Forum of Youngstown, bridge club, Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens, St. Charles Ladies Guild, and BT &SC swim club, and she is a volunteer tax counsel for the elderly.

Mr. Campean retired in 1991 as a supervisor for Chrysler Corp. in Twinsburg. Before that, he worked for Electric Equipment from 1954 to 1964. He is a member of Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church, the CCM Club and American Legion. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean War.
