HUBBARD — City residents are advised that brush and branches should be out on the curbs by June 25 for the street department collection. There will be no collection after June 26.

Poland celebration

POLAND — Celebrate Poland is set for Friday and Saturday at village hall. Organizers are still looking for contestants and vendors.

Poland Idol, the celebration’s answer to the television hit, “American Idol,” is planned for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Contestants will be judged in categories divided by age, and prizes will be awarded. Call Cindy Best at (330) 651-2999 to register.

The craft show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and table space is still available. To reserve space, call Barb Banks at (330) 757-4584 or Mary Alice Fedor at (330) 757-1578.

Chalk It Up for Poland is a chalk-art contest planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Pre-register at www.antonishak.com or that morning between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.

Park restoration

HUBBARD — All area clubs and organizations are invited to join Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce and Hubbard Environmental and Land Preservation to help Hubbard Junior Garden Club in restoring and beautifying Tylee Park. Parade registration

HOWLAND — Registration forms are now available for anyone interested in participating in Howland Township’s annual 4th of July Parade. Forms are available at the township administration building, 205 Niles-Cortland Road.

Livestock sale

WARREN — Trumbull County Farm Bureau and the Ponderosa restaurant on Elm Road are teaming up to raise money for the Trumbull County Junior Fair livestock sale July 4 at Trumbull County Fairgrounds. During June, for every patron who says “Steak Your Claim” when ordering food — for eat-in, takeout or catering — Elm Road Ponderosa will donate 10 percent of the receipt to the Farm Bureau.

Tax payments due

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The Lawrence County treasurer’s office announced the last day to submit 2009 county tax payments without penalty is June 30. As of July 1, there will be a 10 percent penalty added to the amount due. For more information, contact the treasurer’s office at (724) 656-2123.
