For documentary fans: “Cities of the Underworld.” Three seasons of this History Channel fave explore subterranean infrastructures. For Western lovers: “Zane Grey Theater: Complete Season 1.” This rarely seen 1950s anthology series is a surprisingly adult collection of half-hour Old West dramas produced by Dick Powell and starring Hollywood names like Robert Ryan, Ida Lupino, Jack Lemmon, Lloyd Bridges and David Niven. Filmed like little movies, the episodes retain their intensity, and they look pristine. $40 for 30 episodes on four discs, VCI.
For sci-fi freaks: “Star Trek The Original Series, Season 1. “ (Blu-ray) — Not only has William Shatner’s ’60s crew never looked better, but Trekkers can simultaneously savor interactive commentary and technical factoids. With a Web-connected Blu-ray player, BD Live features let you chat with fellow fans and share self-created content. $129 for 29 episodes on seven discs, CBS.
