Couples honored at Temple El Emeth

HONOREES: Couples who have been married between 50 and 71 years and are members of Temple El Emeth walked down the aisle, through a marriage kuppah, and were seated on the pulpit during an anniversary ceremony, which was conducted by Rabbi Joseph P. Schonberger in their honor on May 29.

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — Couples who have been married 50 years or longer were honored on May 29 during a 7 p.m. anniversary ceremony at Temple El Emeth. Eligible to participate in the event were 27 temple couples who have been married between 50 and 71 years.

During the event, 16 couples walked down the aisle through a marriage kuppah that was handmade in Israel and donated in 1977 in honor of the 40th anniversary of temple members Minnie and the late Louis Harskovitz, who celebrated their 71st anniversary in 2007.

The honored guests, who were seated on the pulpit as Rabbi Joseph P. Schonberger officiated at the ceremony, included: Robert and Lenore Ackerman, Dr. Harold and Helen Cheven, Sam and Naomi Fine, Dr. Larry and Dona Glass, Atty. Peter and Roberta Grinstein, Irv and Renee Jacobson, Stanley and Ruth Katz, Dr. Mace and Phyllis Landau, Atty. Sol and Shirley Malkoff, Donald and Sandy Miller, Sam and Dee Mirkin, Atty. James and Roberta Pazol, Jack and Elayne Rusnak, Marvin and Sonja Schwartz, Jack and Doris Stein, and Fred and Shirley Wittow.

The following couples were unable to attend: Kenneth and Jeannie Fibus, Irv and Bernice Froomkin, Martin and Marilyn Oyer, Dr. Jacques and Joyce Politi, John and Elizabeth Redlich, Allan and Pearl Segall, Atty. Vic and Sue Sperling, Harry and Gail Wagman, Allen and Sara Wolkoff, Milton and Lillian Yarmy, and Bill and Lucille Vegh (he recently passed away).

After the ceremony there was an Oneg Shabbat reception.
