Boardman, Poland police blotters


A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman and Poland townships:

BOARDMAN

June 14

Drug paraphernalia: A 17-year-old township boy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia as police investigated a suspicious vehicle. A suspected marijuana pipe was discovered, a report said.

Criminal damaging: A car’s driver’s-side windshield was damaged in the 90 block of Green Bay Drive.

Arrest: A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a 46-year-old township man. He was accused of failing to appear in court to face two charges of violating court orders.

Attempted theft/damage: Someone tried to steal a riding lawn tractor from a home in the 100 block of Jennette Drive. The homeowner found that a shed door had been damaged.

Burglary: To a Brandon Avenue residence. Among the items stolen were two flat-screen TVs, a cell phone and an Xbox game system.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s mirror was damaged in the 800 block of Fairfield Drive.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 600 block of Forest Ridge Drive had its driver’s-side mirror knocked off.

Domestic violence: A woman, 26, and a man, 34, both of Boardman-Canfield Road, were charged. The man alleged his girlfriend pushed, scratched and slapped him; the woman alleged he shoved her twice.

Theft: A 54-year-old Irondale, Ohio, woman surrendered on a felony charge. She was accused of having stolen $23,800 worth of blow dryers and other merchandise from Malys Supplies & Equipment Inc., 7393 California Ave.

June 15

Theft: A city woman, 19, was charged in the theft of $81 worth of clothing from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A 47-year-old Youngstown man faced a charge after $56 worth of candy was taken from Marc’s, 7121 Tiffany Blvd.

Theft: Six bottles of baby formula were stolen from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St., leading to a charge against a 40-year-old Youngstown woman.

Theft: Two cell phones were stolen from behind a counter at Verizon Wireless in the Southern Park Mall.

Assault: A Boardman man, 27, was charged after authorities responded to an assault in the 600 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, where the accuser said he had been struck in the head. The victim, who suffered a swollen and bloody right eye, also was arrested on a charge of possession of drugs.

Theft: Three Youngstown boys, two age 13 and one age 14, were charged in the theft of trading cards and other merchandise from Toys ‘R’ Us, 317 Boardman-Poland Road.

Aggravated menacing: Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance at a Boardman-Canfield Road eatery, then took the 42-year-old Globe, Ariz., man into custody on charges of disorderly conduct while intoxicated, aggravated menacing and obstructing official business. The man threatened to kill an officer and his family, a report showed.

Theft: Police charged a Youngstown woman, 18, with stealing $125 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Misuse of a credit card: A Canfield woman discovered her credit card had been used without consent to rack up just under $200 worth of charges at two township stores.

June 16

Theft: A 16-year-old city girl was charged, accused of taking $222 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Arrest: A Youngstown woman, 36, was arrested after having been pulled over on Glenwood Avenue when police learned she was wanted on a felony probation-violation charge.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Melbourne Avenue, where a pair of shorts, a bottle of soda and a trash can lid were stolen.

Burglary/identity theft: A break-in occurred at a Roche Way residence. Later, the homeowner found out someone had used her information to open an online account.

Theft: A 20-year-old New Castle, Pa., man surrendered on a felony warrant. Earlier, a Market Street man reported numerous coins, a checkbook and other items stolen.

Criminal mischief: Someone spit chewing tobacco on a vehicle at a Boardman-Canfield Road business.

Theft: An 18-year-old Boardman woman was booked, accused of having stolen $45 worth of clothing from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal damaging: A car window was broken in the 300 block of East Midlothian Boulevard.

Aggravated menacing: A worker with a U.S. Route 224 fitness center told police a customer threatened to return with a gun during an argument regarding membership dues.

Misuse of a credit card: An employee with a Karago Avenue business learned a business credit card had been used to make several unauthorized transactions.

June 17

Criminal damaging: Two vehicles’ driver’s-side windows were broken on Green Bay and Stoney Creek drives.

Auto theft: A woman’s 1999 Ford Taurus was stolen in the 7300 block of South Avenue.

POLAND

June 13

Identity theft: A report was filed by a township man related to unauthorized activity with his debit card.

June 14

Drugs: A traffic stop on state Route 170 resulted in a 46-year-old township man’s being issued a citation. He was charged with possession of marijuana when, police said, a small amount had been found.

June 15

Menacing: A report was filed regarding a 16-year-old Poland girl stemming from a situation at a baseball field off state Route 170.

Damage: Someone damaged a vending machine at a Center Road business in an effort to break in.
