Man to serve 2 years for felonious assault
STAFF REPORT
YOUNGSTOWN — Donald Harshbarger, 49, of Osborne Street will have to serve two years in state prison for running another man down with his van.
Harshbarger, who pleaded guilty to a count of felonious assault in April, was sentenced Tuesday by Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Authorities said Harshbarger argued with another man, identified as Arthur Rose, on Jan. 30 at a bowling alley on Mahoning Avenue over a $10 debt Harshbarger was owed. Witnesses told police Rose gave Harshbarger a $20 bill but that Harshbarger refused to give him change and was eventually asked to leave the building.
When Rose left a short time later, Harshbarger ran him down, police said. His van then struck the side of the building before he fled the scene, police said.
Rose was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
