West Side man going to prison for a $10 debt
YOUNGSTOWN — Donald Harshbarger, 49, of Osborne Avenue, will have to serve two years in state prison for running another man down with his van.
Harshbarger, who pleaded guilty to a count of felonious assault in April, was sentenced today by Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Authorities said on Jan. 30 of this year, Harshbarger argued with another man at a bowling alley on Mahoning Avenue over a $10 debt Harshbarger was owed. Witnesses told police the man gave Harshbarger a $20 bill, but Harshbarger refused to give him change and was eventually asked to leave the building.
When the man left a short time later, Harshbarger ran him down, police said. His van then struck the side of the building before he fled the scene, police said.
The victim was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
