Rondinelli scores in seventh to edge 1080 Media in ‘B’


STRUTHERS — Rondinelli Tuxedo scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and Drew Fitzpatrick got out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the frame as Rondinelli won a battle of two Class B League division leaders, 6-5 over 1080 Media, on Monday night, at Cene Park. Both teams are 13-4.

Fitzpatrick had a pair of hits, one a triple, and went 12‚Ñ3 innings for the win, his third on the campaign. Jason Bagoly added a single and a double for Rondinelli.

Evan Campbell and James Coates had two hits each and Campbell had two RBIs for 1080.

Youngstown Express 6, Roth Brothers 3

Anthony O’Nesti drove home two runs with a triple for the Express. Jon DeAmicis (2-4) went the first five innings and Mike Rohan tossed two scoreless innings of relief for the save. Dan Mioni had two hits while Bubba Uhlman had two RBIs with a double for Roth.

Dave Sugar Excavating 9, Livi Steel 5

Joey Borrelli had three hits and Nick Benson two for Dave Sugar on Sunday night. Mike Gatta (2-0) tossed 42‚Ñ3 scoreless innings in relief for the win allowing just one hit. Mike McClung and Seven Richards had two hits each for Livi.

Tri-State Collegiate

YOUNGSTOWN — Ohio Monarchs swept Youngstown Metros, 6-4 and 11-8, in games on Sunday at Pemberton/Donnell Park.

In the opener, Armani Johnson and David Leon had three hits each for Metros, while Cory Johnson added two. Mike Hoelzel hit a triple and Jae Leeworthy added a pair of RBIs. Brian Billus singled twice for Monarchs, and Colin Meinzer and Brandon McFarland doubled.

In the second game, Joe Iacobucci hit a home run, double and single for Metros, driving in two runs. Johnson added two hits, including a double and three RBIs, while John Opincarne and Chester Kirkwood also doubled.

The Monarchs were led by Billus, with a home run and double, and three RBIs.

WARREN — Jeremy Krol was the winning pitcher and also had two hits, including a double, to lead the Knights over the Hickory Hornets, 7-2, on Sunday. Krol struck out eight in five innings. Craig Dobos also hit a double and a single, while Matt DiMuzio added a double. Cory Hinzman had three RBIs.

WARREN — Matt Vadas hit a three-run homer and had five RBIs overall to lead Cleats. Aaron Byler and Mike Swoboda added a pair of singles each, and Andrew Beachy had two RBIs and Ryan Karson hit a double.

Leon’s Brewers 9, New Hamburg Hounds 3

WARREN — Joe Hardy struck out eight and scattered three hits. Jon Wagner had three hits for Leon’s, including a double, and two RBIs. Dan Popadak and Vince Gentile both singled twice. Brian Wisnewsky led the Hounds with a double and single, and Vince Gentile singled twice.

New Hamburg Hounds 4, P.I.&I Express 0

WARREN — Will Zachrich tossed a one-hitter and struck out nine for the Hounds. Roeder had three hits, including a double. Frank Rosile’s double was the Express’ only hit.

Trumbull Merchants 1, Champion Marlins 0

WARREN — The Merchants scored the only run in the top of the seventh inning, making a winner of Steve Liebel, who with Aaron Johnstone scattered four hits. Johnstone picked up a save. Kyle Moore singled twice for the Merchants, while Mike Hanck and Lance Townsend both hit doubles.
