Police: Speed, texting before crash killed Pa. teen
DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Police say the driver of a car was speeding and texting just before a crash that killed a pregnant teenager and her unborn baby April 14 in Philadelphia’s western suburbs.
Nicollette Pomon, 17, of Downingtown, was riding in her friend Meghan Obendorfer’s car when it collided head-on with an empty school bus at a curve in East Brandywine Township, Chester County.
Police allege that Obendorfer, who is 18 and also from Downingtown, was hurrying to deliver a bag of marijuana to a juvenile female in Glenmoore.
Police charged Obendorfer this month with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, speeding, possession of marijuana and other offenses. She is free on $25,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing is June 22.
