MAHONING COUNTY MRDD Annual Forum
The Mahoning County Board of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities’ annual public forum produced a number of suggestions from participants who split into work sessions:
Centralize pricing and acquisition of materials.
Research cost-effectiveness of document imaging.
Develop and utilize electronic forms.
Provide emotional coping skills to adult clients for events such as deaths, dating, love and marriage.
Utilize grants to purchase items for the sheltered workshops.
Increase work and nonwork activities for adult clients.
Increase recruitment of high school students into adult services.
Continue to develop transition plans for graduates from school to the adult workshops.
Provide more training for Leonard Kirtz School staff on new individual education plans.
Provide more information for parents on the importance of establishing guardianships for their child before he becomes 18.
