Greenville plans heritage day
Last year the July Fourth event drew more than 2,000 visitors and 20 exhibitors.
GREENVILLE, Pa. — The “Heritage Day in Greenville” Committee has received a marketing grant from Visit Mercer County PA to promote the July Fourth event.
“We want to expand the geographic area we draw visitors from, and this grant from Visit Mercer County PA will be a big help to let more people know about our event”, said Fred Kiser, chairman of the Heritage Day Committee.
“We are looking to partner with media outlets in a 100-mile radius to let folks know about what we have planned.”
The marketing grant is given to a local fair or festival for the purpose of attracting visitors from outside the county.
Last year, more than 2,000 visitors saw more than 20 crafting exhibits and interactive demonstrations of Colonial chores and listened to 10 historical presentations at several locations.
The event features live and recorded music.
A shuttle service will operate throughout the day to move visitors from site to site.
The festival will feature a Classic Car Cruise-in on Main Street and a 5K Run around town. A World War II-style USO show and social is planned at Thiel College.
“Heritage Day in Greenville is unique because it encompasses the whole town,” adds John Kokoski, of the Museum Alliance. “The event utilizes the downtown area, our three local museums, the Recreation Center, Riverside Park and Thiel College.”
The Greenville Area Museum Alliance maintains three local museums: the Waugh House, Canal Museum and Railroad Museum.
