OAKLAND, Calif. — Rajai Davis slapped an RBI single in the ninth inning and the Oakland Athletics rallied from a late three-run deficit.

BOSTON — J.D. Drew hit an RBI single to spark an eighth-inning rally, then scored the go-ahead run on Mike Lowell’s fly ball to help Boston improve to 8-0 against the Yankees this year.

Rangers 1, Blue Jays 0

ARLINGTON, Texas — Kevin Millwood threw 7 2-3 excellent innings and Texas beat the Toronto for only its fourth 1-0 victory in 16 seasons since moving into Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

White Sox 4, Tigers 3

CHICAGO — Scott Podsednik hit an RBI single off Joel Zumaya with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, lifting Chicago. The start of the game was delayed nearly three hours by rain.

Rays 11, Angels 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Carlos Pena hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs, and Dioner Navarro homered and had three RBIs for Tampa Bay. Pena hit his 19th homer of the season off Rich Thompson to make it 11-1 in the eighth. Pena also had a third-inning sacrifice fly.

BALTIMORE — Russell Branyan homered and drove in three runs to lead Seattle.

Rockies 5, Brewers 4

MILWAUKEE — Aaron Cook pitched shutout ball into the seventh inning and the Colorado Rockies won their eighth straight game for another sweep. Ian Stewart homered and scored three times for the Rockies. Colorado won three in a row at Miller Park after completing a four-game sweep at St. Louis earlier this week.

Phillies 6, Mets 3, 10 innings

NEW YORK — Raul Ibanez hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning and Philadelphia handed its NL East rivals another difficult loss.

Astros 2, Cubs 1

HOUSTON — Geoff Blum drove in the winning run for the second straight game, hitting an RBI single in the 13th inning that led the Houston Astros over the Chicago Cubs.

Diamondbacks 2, Giants 1

PHOENIX — Max Scherzer allowed three hits over 7 2-3 dominant innings and Justin Upton homered and hit an RBI single, leading Arizona.

Cardinals 6, Marlins 5

MIAMI — Pinch-hitter Colby Rasmus hit a go-ahead single in the eighth inning after a costly error by center fielder Cody Ross, sending the St. Louis Cardinals over the Florida Marlins. Albert Pujols hit his 19th home run and Rick Ankiel added three hits for the Cardinals.

Nationals 3, Reds 2

WASHINGTON — Cristian Guzman scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by Cincinnati second baseman Brandon Phillips in the eighth inning and the Washington Nationals beat the Reds. With the bases loaded and one out, Ryan Zimmerman bounced a slow grounder to shortstop Alex Gonzalez, who flipped to Phillips to force Alberto Gonzalez. As Anderson Hernandez crossed the plate with the tying run, Phillips threw wildly to first, allowing Guzman to score.
