After completing the first leg of his 1,250-mile journey to the 37 border counties of Ohio to raise funds for the Special Olympics of Ohio, James Sasak, left, the “Bicycle Ambassador for the Grand Lodge of Ohio and Special Olympics,” was welcomed by Howard Bodine of the Valley of Youngstown, Scottish Rite Masons, as he arrived at Mahoning County Courthouse recently.

Sasak travels an average of 10 miles an hour and intends to complete his journey in Columbus in time for the Special Olympics on June 26. Aided by his tour director, B.J. Hartman, a mother of a Special Olympian, Sasak hopes his ride will bring respect, hope and joy to Special Olympic athletes.
