Ohio Supreme Court disciplines former Ohio BWC official

COLUMBUS (AP) — The Ohio Supreme Court has suspended the law license of well-known Cleveland political figure George Forbes, but says he must serve it only if he engages in future misconduct.

The 78-year-old Forbes was on the oversight commission of the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation during an investment scandal in 2005. Forbes, a Democrat, was convicted in 2007 in Columbus of six misdemeanors.

The scandal led to criminal convictions against several state officials, money managers or investment advisers and extended to former Gov. Bob Taft.

Messages seeking comment were left for Forbes at his Cleveland law firm and with his attorney in Columbus, Charles R. Saxbe.
