Business robbed
AUSTINTOWN — A man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash after holding a Conroy’s Express employee at gunpoint.
The convenience store employee said he was doing chores inside the South Meridian Road business just before 2 a.m. Wednesday when a man wearing dark clothing, white gloves and a red bandanna over his face entered.
The man pointed a silver semiautomatic handgun and ordered the employee to open the cash register. The robber emptied the cash into a white plastic bag. He ran out of the business across South Meridian and headed southeast.
Austintown and Youngstown police unsuccessfully searched the area.

The second project is on Blosser Road between Route 164 and state Route 165 (East South Range Road). Blosser will be closed from June 23 to 25. Traffic will be detoured along Routes 164 and 165.
House to be razed
AUSTINTOWN — Township trustees approved the demolition of a North Turner Road home that was deemed a total loss after an arson earlier this year.
Zoning Inspector Darren Crivelli said 154 N. Turner Road should be razed within one month.
“We’re going to have to bid out the job, which should take about two weeks,” he said. “The house should be down in a month if all goes well and according to plan.”
Firefighters said the blaze was intentionally set, and a man who identified himself as Charles E. Field Jr., 57, said he lived at the residence with the homeowner, Harry J. Field. Charles Field was later determined to be Harry Field. He was indicted in March on an aggravated-arson charge.
