Yo. Golf Association still accepting players
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Golf Association’s tournaments are still accepting registration from area players.
The first tournament will be June 19 at Flying B Golf Course with the first of four junior qualifiers.
The junior qualifiers are for boys and girls ages 13–15 and 16–18.
The top four finishers in each division will qualify for the season ending junior match play championship on August 3–6 at Old Avalon Golf Course.
The YGA’s mission is to connect area golfers and non-golfers alike with discounts on play, equipment, merchandise and the YGA tournament schedule of events.

Reese selected
STRUTHERS — Eddie Reese of the Rondinelli Tuxedo baseball team was selected the Class B League player of the week.
For the week, Reese hit .588 with four triples, seven RBIs and six runs scored as Rondinelli went 4-1.
A Cardinal Mooney High School senior, Reese has a 3.9 GPA and is a member of The National Honor Society.
At Mooney, he’s won athletic letters in four sports (football, basketball, tennis and baseball).
Katie Hughes decides on Westminster
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Katie Hughes, a recent graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, will play basketball at Westminster College.
Hughes, a 5-9 forward, earned three letters at Cardinal Mooney High School under coach Jack Bermann.
A two-time all-Steel Valley Conference selection, Hughes also earned honorable mention all-state.
She will also play softball at Westminster and was a four-year starter at shortstop at Mooney.
Hughes will major in special education.
Miller judges fight
MINERAL RIDGE — Area boxing judge Tom Miller will officiate the bout between Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey for the WBO welterweight championship on Saturday.
The fight will be held at Madison Square Garden and will be televised on HBO as the Main Event.

Henry remains jailed
BILLINGS, Mont. — The U.S. Attorney’s office says former NFL player Travis Henry will remain in jail pending his July 15 sentencing on drug trafficking charges.
Henry, 30, had been free on $400,000 bail until he was arrested in Florida last month after testing positive for alcohol use, violating the terms of his release. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull in Billings ordered the defendant to be detained pending sentencing.
Henry pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to possess at least 11 pounds of cocaine with intent to distribute. He was cut by the Denver Broncos in June 2008 after playing one season of a four-year, $22.5 million contract.
Tyson marries
LAS VEGAS — Boxer Mike Tyson has married for a third time, two weeks after his 4-year-old daughter died in a tragic treadmill accident.
The owner of the La Bella Wedding Chapel at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel-casino told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the former heavyweight champion and his bride, Lakiha Spicer, exchanged vows Saturday in a short, private ceremony.
Chapel owner Shawn Absher says the couple wed about 10 p.m. after arriving at the hotel from the Clark County marriage bureau in a chapel-owned limousine.
200 horses for sale
LEXINGTON, Ky. — A major Kentucky thoroughbred farm that is home to the great stallion Storm Cat is selling nearly its entire stock of about 200 horses.
Overbrook Farm made the announcement Tuesday from Keeneland, the Lexington auction house that will organize the dispersal beginning at its September sale.
Overbrook owner Bill Young Jr. explained he simply didn’t have the same passion for the sport as his father, the late William T. Young. Young said Overbrook will continue operating as a small racing stable led by his son, Chris.
