YOUNGSTOWN — A father and his son from the city are in Mahoning County jail on a combined $1 million bond after a household dispute led to gunfire being exchanged between the two.

Jerry Glenn, 59, and his son Mickele Glenn, 19, both listing the same Southern Boulevard address, appeared Monday before Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. of Youngstown Municipal Court. The two men had to be kept separated at the jail.

Both are charged with felony possession of a firearm. Prosecutors told the court that additional charges may be filed on each man in relation to the shooting at their home.

Prosecutors read a lengthy criminal history for Jerry Glenn before asking the judge to impose a $500,000 bond. Mickele Glenn’s criminal history was not as lengthy, but he does have a conviction for carrying a concealed weapon and for additional crimes as a juvenile, prosecutors said.

Judge Douglas imposed a $500,000 bond on each man.

According to police, officers sent to the Southern Boulevard home on the South Side late Sunday evening found spent shell casings in the driveway, on the porch and on the porch steps. Several bullet holes were in the front of the house and windows.

Officers found Jerry Glenn inside, but he would offer no explanation other than that he had an argument with his son. Mickele Glenn was at another home on Clarencedale Avenue bleeding from the hand.

The mother of Mickele Glenn and wife of Jerry Glenn eventually gave officers an explanation of what took place in the home.

The woman told police Jerry Glenn came home drunk, demanding that Mickele Glenn leave the house because he claimed the mob wanted to kill Mickele and he did not want him there.

The woman told officers Jerry Glenn eventually left the room but returned with a shotgun and pointed the weapon at his son. She said Mickele Glenn then pulled out a handgun and began firing at his father as he ran out of the house. Jerry Glenn, she said, fired one shot from the shotgun.

Police collected a shotgun, ammunition, bullet fragments and bullet casings from the Southern Boulevard home.
