Canton police: Suspected killer admits he killed his kids, grandmother
CANTON, Ohio (AP) — Police say a man held in northeast Ohio on charges that he killed his two children and their grandmother calmly confessed shortly after his arrest.
Canton Police Chief Dan McKimm said Tuesday that the motive of 35-year-old James Mammone III appears to be a wish to inflict emotional pain on his ex-wife.
The mother of the two slain children pleaded for police help in a 911 call on Monday. In the call, Marcia Mammone says her ex-husband is at the apartment building where she lives and that she’s convinced he’s set on violence.
She says she can see her children inside Mammones’ car. They were found dead in the back seat later Monday with stab wounds to their necks.
Marcia Mammone’s mother was found shot to death inside her home.
