BOSTON — Nelson Cruz homered, tripled and doubled, helping Texas to its first series win at Fenway Park in 12 years. Texas took two of three in a matchup of AL division leaders. Boston dropped a half-game behind the New York Yankees in the AL East. Cruz’s 17th homer and 10th in his last 17 games drove in Texas’ final run. Cruz hit a solo shot in the seventh off Hideki Okajima that ended Boston’s bullpen scoreless streak at 12 innings.

NEW YORK — Mariano Rivera bounced back from a poor outing against Tampa Bay, and the Yankees played small ball to rally for three runs in the eighth inning. Nick Swisher hit the 100th home run in 28 games at the new Yankee Stadium, helping Joe Girardi earn his 200th win as a manager. Alfredo Aceves (4-1) pitched two scoreless innings in New York’s major league-leading 20th comeback victory this season.

TORONTO — Roy Halladay pitched a seven-hitter to become the first 10-game winner in the majors, and Toronto beat Kansas City. Aaron Hill and Lyle Overbay homered for the Blue Jays, who won two of three in the series.

DETROIT — Clete Thomas’ grand slam broke an eighth-inning tie and Detroit took advantage of a key error by first baseman Kendry Morales to beat Los Angeles. The Tigers have won two straight after losing the first four games of their six-game homestand.

OAKLAND, Calif. — Vin Mazzaro pitched into the eighth inning and Oakland beat Baltimore for its season-high sixth straight win.

SEATTLE — Jose Lopez homered and drove in two runs, leading Erik Bedard and Seattle past Minnesota.

SAN DIEGO — Mark Reynolds hit a three-run homer off infielder Josh Wilson with two outs in the 18th inning in the longest major league game this season. The Padres were held hitless through nine extra innings by four relievers. Their only baserunners in extras came on three walks. The game took 5 hours, 45 minutes.

ATLANTA — Tommy Hanson faded after a strong start to his major league debut, but Chipper Jones and the Braves rallied to beat Milwaukee.

ST. LOUIS — Ubaldo Jimenez threw eight innings of four-hit ball and Paul Phillips drove in three runs for streaking Colorado.

CINCINNATI — Alfonso Soriano led off the 14th inning with a home run to lead Chicago to the victory. Soriano hit Mike Lincoln’s first pitch into the seats in right-center for his 14th homer of the season. He was 0 for 5 before the clutch drive.

WASHINGTON — Livan Hernandez allowed four singles in seven innings and New York got off to a fast start with five runs in the first inning. Hernandez (5-1) walked four and struck out four to win for the fifth time in seven starts. The right-hander has won seven consecutive games against the Nationals and improved to 10-5 lifetime against his former team.
Giants 3, Marlins 2
MIAMI — Tim Lincecum pitched three-hit ball into the eighth to win his fifth consecutive decision, and San Francisco beat Florida. Bengie Molina had two RBIs to back Lincecum (5-1), who went 7 1/3 innings. He also doubled and scored. The NL Cy Young Award winner was lifted after yielding Chris Coghlan’s two-run homer. Brian Wilson worked the ninth for his 15th save in 18 opportunities.
