“The Closer” (9 p.m., TNT): Spunky homicide detective Brenda Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) returns for another season of “The Closer” and she immediately has her hands full with a quadruple-murder case. The opener airs just ahead of the Season 2 debut of “Raising the Bar.”

“Weeds” (10 p.m., Showtime): “Weeds” may have gone to pot, but the edgy comedy and its brilliant star (Mary-Louise Parker) are as addictive as ever as Season 5 kicks off with more bizarre misadventures.

“Nurse Jackie” (10:30 p.m., Showtime): Edie Falco (”The Sopranos”) casts off her Carmela wig for a much shorter ’do and a more caustic attitude in “Nurse Jackie.” She plays the seriously flawed title character — an ER nurse who’s addicted to pain pills and is cheating on her husband.

“Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” (10 p.m., Bravo): The comic visits Bette Midler and ends up in her Las Vegas show.
