Support Our Troops rally Saturday in Pa.
BEAVER, Pa. — The Vietnam Veterans of America, Beaver County Chapter 862, announce June 14 as the date for the ninth annual “Support Our Troops Rally.” This event takes place annually to honor veterans and those currently serving in the military.
The event will be at the gazebo in Quay Park, across from the Beaver County Courthouse. The rally will begin at 5 p.m., but the food tent for the picnic will open at 4 p.m. This year’s event will include an auction containing many items donated by local businesses. Entertainment will be provided by: Renaissance Rhythm Chorus, Dianne Brosius, Victor Vega, Erik Funkhouser and Tacky the Clown.
All net proceeds will be donated to the Yellow Ribbon Girls of Ellwood City to help support their efforts of providing packages to our troops overseas.

Special cat adoptions at AWL shelter in June
LORDSTOWN — Animal Welfare League shelter has cats available for purchase. During June, the shelter will have special adoption rates. The cost is $100 for a cat that has been spayed/neutered; $50 for a cat not spayed or neutered; and $75 for two cats not spayed or neutered.

Help document birds for atlas Saturday
HOWLAND — There will be a walk in Howland Township Park at 8:30 a.m. Saturday to help document breeding birds for the Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas.
Interested people should meet at the entrance to the boardwalk. The walk should take about one hour.
The Mosquito Creek Corridor is designated as an Important Bird Area.
Criteria for the atlas will be reviewed as each bird is documented. The atlas is important in assessing fluctuating bird populations.
People should bring binoculars and wear sturdy shoes. Hats, jackets and repellent are advised for bug protection.
Beehive inspection
BRISTOLVILLE — The Trumbull County Beekeepers Association will have a field day at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mike Shafer’s house, 590 Bristol-Champion Townline Road. The topic of the day will be “inspecting the hive.” Any interested person is invited to attend. Hats and veils can be provided upon request by calling Al Eggleston at (330) 502-8314.
