Ohioans are resourceful; they’ll find a way to gamble
EDITOR:
Whether casino gambling is approved or denied by Ohio voters, Ohioans who want to gamble will continue to do so.
Not even unemployment, recession, depression or obsession will stop some people from traveling to out of state casinos to spend their money.
Does anyone really believe if the bingo halls and parlors, lottery, sports betting and racetrack betting were to end in Ohio, that the people who engaged in those forms of gambling wouldn’t travel to states that allowed such gambling?
I find it hard to understand why Ohio who has always had some form of gambling is so reluctant to have casino gambling.
All forms of gambling have to do with taking a chance for gain, since other states have taken that chance, why not Ohio?
I believe Americans have the freedom to make their own choices. To gamble or not to gamble, be it in a casino, bingo parlor, racetrack, or lottery stand, should be decided by the person who is gambling.
Casino gambling, as well as other forms of gambling are not the enemy. People who lack common sense, control and moderation in spending their money become their own worst enemy. All things in moderation have proven to be the balancing key to lasting success. I believe Ohio should take a chance on casinos.
