COLUMBUS — Brett Cisper pitched out of a jam in the sixth inning Saturday to help Cincinnati Moeller defeat Pickerington North 5-2 in the Division I baseball championship in Huntington Park.
The Crusaders (24-5) won 12 straight since losing to Pickerington North (30-4) last month. They won their fifth state title and first since 2004.
Cisper replaced starter Robby Sunderman with the Crusaders ahead 5-2 and a runner on second and none out.
Xander Uxley reached on an error, but Cisper struck out Austin Butler and picked off Uxley at first before getting a called third strike on Drew Williams to end the inning.
Cisper allowed a leadoff walk in the seventh but retired the next three to earn the save.
Pickerington North was in its first state appearance. It had a chance to tie the game at 3 in the top of the fourth but had a runner cut down at home.
