Golfers invited to scramble for lifesaving cause

YOUNGSTOWN — The American Heart Association is inviting golfers to take a swing at heart disease and stroke by registering for the 2009 Golf Classic Scramble to be June 15 at Youngstown Country Club.

The 18-hole event will be in the form of a four-person scramble, beginning with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The fee is $250 per golfer or $1,000 for a team of four, and includes lunch at 11:30 a.m., carts, refreshments on the course, and an awards reception following play.

The event will offer team and individual prizes, including a cash prize of $25,000 for the first hole-in-one, provided by Dr. Michael Burley and Joe Valvo, event chairs. Another first-hole-in-one prize will be a 2009 Cadillac CTS provided by Stadium GM, and a closest-to-the pin prize will be provided by Caleena Fine Jewelers of Warren. Monetary prizes will be awarded teams and individuals at the end of the day.

Event sponsors for the scramble are MVI HomeCare and Primus Medical, and the media sponsor is WFMJ-21. Gold sponsors are “Joe” Dickey Electric/McCamon-Hunt Insurance Agency, Prout Boiler Heating and Welding Inc., St. Jude Medical, Taco Bell, and Wells Fargo Advisors.
