Flag-disposal service scheduled in Poland

POLAND — Worn, frayed, torn or faded American Flags can be retired honorably during a flag disposal ceremony.

The ceremony will begin at 8:45 p.m. June 26 at the Sons of American Legion Mahoning Valley Squadron 15 Post, 35 Cortland St.

Squadron 15 has hosted the event for eight years in a row, and invites the public to attend. The Celebrate Poland fireworks display will follow at 10 p.m.

Flags can be dropped off at the Post Home in a receptacle marked “flag disposal” or by contacting (330) 757-8711.

A chicken dinner will also be served from 6 to 9 p.m. that night. Tickets are $8, and dinner includes a half-chicken, potato, coleslaw and bread.
