Susan Boyle released from mental-health clinic

LONDON — The brother of talent-show contestant Susan Boyle says the singer has left a mental-health care facility and is doing better.

Gerry Boyle told GMTV Friday that his sister had been released from the London clinic. She was admitted Sunday, after coming in second place in the “Britain’s Got Talent” television show.

Gerry Boyle says his sister suffered from an anxiety attack but now seems “a lot more like herself.”

In eight weeks, Boyle went from the quiet life of a church volunteer in a small town in Scotland to global fame.

‘Slumdog’ child stars draw crowd in visit

HONG KONG — The child stars of the Oscar-winning movie “Slumdog Millionaire” traded the shanties of Mumbai for Hong Kong’s skyscrapers Friday as they arrived for a charity fundraising performance.

Photographers swarmed Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail and Rubina Ali as they arrived at Hong Kong’s international airport, with 10-year-old Azhar riding on their baggage cart.

A guardian shooed away reporters, but 9-year-old Ayush — whose movie character famously jumps into sewage so he can rush to an Indian film star to get his autograph — said he wanted to visit Hong Kong Disneyland.

The children are due to sing and dance at a live broadcast Saturday to raise funds for the Hong Kong charity The Community Chest.

“Slumdog Millionaire” is about an orphan from Mumbai’s shantytowns who wins the Indian version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Lawyer details injuries in ‘Bruno’ lawsuit

LOS ANGELES — The lawyer for a woman suing actor-comedian Sacha Baron Cohen over a scuffle at a charity bingo tournament says the woman suffered “life-altering injuries.” Attorney Kyle Madison released a statement Friday that asks for privacy for Richelle Olson, who sued Baron Cohen in late May. In her lawsuit, Olson claims Baron Cohen and a camera crew for his new movie, “Bruno,” had caused her to fall and hit her head in May 2007. Olson says she now has to use either a walker or a wheelchair.

Publicists for Baron Cohen and NBC Universal, which are both named in the complaint, haven’t returned phone messages seeking comment.
