Junior Civic League to award scholarships


BOARDMAN — The Junior Civic League will award scholarships to 17 students during its annual Scholarship Luncheon at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holiday Inn South, 7410 South Ave.

The organization will award $1,500 individual scholarships to 15 local high school graduates. They are:

Ashley Roberts of Austintown Fitch; Caleb Mathews of Boardman; Amanda Bennett, Natetay Jones-Logan and Kayla Williams, all of Campbell Memorial; Vanessa Knight and Tamyka Scott of Chaney; Aiesha Ethridge and Kyonia Johnson of East; Breonna Carter of Hubbard; Quincy Harris and Ashley Venable of Liberty; Amber Monroe of Ursuline; and Micalise Feagins and Eve Griffin of Youngstown Christian.

Two Youngstown State University students, Stacey Scott and Christopher Seals, will also be honored and awarded $1,500 scholarships.

Since its inception, the Junior Civic League has awarded more than $450,000 in scholarships to students throughout the Mahoning Valley.

In addition to recognizing the youth scholars, the Junior Civic League will induct two new members, Cheryl McArthur and Brenda Whitehead, both of Youngstown.

Guest speaker will be H. Howard Pincham Jr., an informational technology professional with the Hyland Software Company in Cleveland.
