Appreciation service to honor organist

HUBBARD — An appreciation service in honor of organist Raymond Author Bonner is planned at 6 p.m. today at Philip’s Chapel Church of God in Christ, 3903 Jacobs Road.

Doors will open at 5 and artist registration will be at 5:45.

Class for visitors

NEW WATERFORD - Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, will offer a free class to introduce visitors and new members to the church.

Called ALF 101, the course will delve into the church’s history, beliefs, structures, vision, ministries, plans and opportunities for getting involved.

Taught by Senior Pastor Jeff Schoch and his wife, Connie, the class is free, open to the public and will be at 7 p.m. Wednesdays for the next three weeks.

Installation service

HUBBARD — The installation of the Rev. Matt Medford to the pulpit of Hubbard First Presbyterian Church, 22 Westview Ave., will be Sunday.

A reception will follow.

City Prayer Team

YOUNGSTOWN — The City Prayer Team of Youngstown will have a prayer assembly at 10 a.m. today at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave. Pictures and video will be available of the National Day of Prayer.

His Music Connection

GIRARD — His Music Connection will have a coffeehouse and concert from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the former Wellman Theater, 29 W. Liberty St. Performing will be Unmerited Favor, Kelly Williams and His Music Connection.

There will be free food.

Flame Fellowship

BOARDMAN — Greater Youngstown Chapter of Flame Fellowship, an inter-denominational ministry, will meet June 15 at the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park.

Fellowship will begin at 6:15 p.m. with the ministry at 6:30.

Guest speaker will be Jennifer Brooks, founder of Abundance in Him Ministries.

Guest preacher

CORNERSBURG — Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, will host a guest preacher, the Rev. Dr. Robert Duffett, at 5 p.m. today and 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

He was born and raised in Youngstown and graduated from Canfield High School. He has a master’s degree in theology from Princeton Theological Seminary and a doctorate from the University of Iowa.

The Rev. Mr. Duffett is an ordained Baptist minister of the American Baptist Churches/USA. He is president at Dakota Wesleyan University, where he has served for nine years.

Homecoming service

CAMPBELL — Shiloh Baptist Church, 238 Bright Ave., will have its first homecoming service at 10:45 a.m. June 14.

The Rev. Ella McDonald of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Sandusky, will be guest speaker.

Church banquet

YOUNGSTOWN — Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Arlington St., will have a Men’s Day Weekend.

A formal banquet is planned at 5 p.m. June 13 with guest speaker Herb Washington.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger.

A concert will be at 4 p.m. June 14 featuring Dennis Garner Jr. and Unity and New Bethel Baptist Church Male Chorus.

Satellite broadcast

CORTLAND — Cortland Trinity Baptist Church, 2576 McCleary Jacoby Road, will host “Ready To Win” via satellite at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Thelma Wells, author, international speaker, business entrepreneur, professor and mentor, will speak.

Admission is free with a donation of a canned good.
