Former Trumbull commissioner pleads guilty to mail fraud charges in federal court

AKRON — James Tsagaris, a former Trumbull County commissioner, pleaded guilty today to two counts of honest services mail fraud in U.S. District Court here and will be sentenced in August.

Tsagaris admitted to failing to disclose a loan from a local businessman of $36,000 sometime in 2004 or 2005. The name of the businessman was not revealed in court.

Sentencing guidelines call for a prison term of about 18 months to two years, although Tsagaris and his lawyer will argue for leniency based on his age and health. He is 75.
