Report: Jon Gosselin says his kids are happy
NEW YORK — Jon Gosselin is disputing reports that his eight children have been hurt by the family’s reality TV series.
Gosselin and his wife, Kate, have drawn tabloid attacks as they continue to appear on TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8.” The couple have denied allegations that they cheated on each other, but have acknowledged their marriage is struggling. Meanwhile, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor has said it’s looking into whether the hit show is complying with the state’s child labor law.
Jon Gosselin tells People magazine that even in the media glare, the couple’s 8-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets are happy and healthy. He says both he and Kate have worked hard to raise them that way.
Obamas speak the language of Bo
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama barks. Really.
Obama and his wife, Michelle, showed off Bo, the family’s puppy, to NBC News anchor Brian Williams for his day-at-the-White House special before Obama left on his Mideast trip.
Bo performed on cue, offering his paw when the president reached out for a shake.
The Obamas turned in their own performances. The first lady held forth in a sugary puppy voice, saying, “I walk myself, too.”
The president channeled his pooch. “Oh, there you go,” Obama told the dog, holding out his hand for a shake. “I’m talking about shaking. Yes, yes, grrrrr.”
McCartney is up first at Mets’ new stadium
NEW YORK — The New York Mets are inviting an old friend to play at their new stadium.
But not just any old friend — Sir Paul McCartney.
The music legend will perform the first concerts at Citi Field on July 17 and 18.
In a statement, McCartney says he’s excited to be the first to play the stadium, and he’s “really looking forward to a buzzing show.”
The 66-year-old former Beatle was a surprise guest last summer for Billy Joel’s concert at Shea Stadium. The previous home of the Mets — shut down to make way for Citi Field — was also where the Beatles performed for a sold-out crowd of screaming fans in 1965.
