Investing in Bizveo

YOUNGSTOWN — The Innovation Alliance Fund has approved an early-stage investment in Bizveo, a company affiliated with of the Youngstown Business Incubator. The fund, which is connected to Lorain County Community College, invests in emerging technology-based businesses.

Bizveo soon will begin trials of software that is designed to improve the way that organizations educate and communicate with employees and clients through the use of streaming video. A major hospital system has agreed to serve as an initial testing site.

Center adds 3 to board

YOUNGS-TOWN — The D&E Counseling Center has added these board members: Dr. Michael Obeng, surgeon at St. Elizabeth’s Boardman Health Center; David Buttar, certified public accountant and shareholder with Yurchyk & Davis; and Chris Jaskiewicz, senior vice president and chief operating officer with Valley Electrical Consolidated. The board also elected attorney Rebecca Gerson as its new president.

The D&E Counseling Center is a nonprofit child/adolescent behavioral health center and is a contract agency with the Mahoning County Board of Mental Health.

Leasing former DYI

WARREN — Kutlick Realty said a Fortune 500 retail company has agreed to lease the former DIY building at 3418 Elm Road. The company does not want to be identified yet, Kutlick said.

The retailer will occupy the entire 79,000-square-foot building. It chose the location because of the highway access and nearness of other major retailers, Kutlick said.

Web sites designed

BOARDMAN — Farris Marketing has completed the design of new Web sites for these companies: Power Tool & Supply, Villa Maria Educational and Spirituality Center and BeautiStone. Farris’ Web services include design concepts, layout, copy writing and ongoing management.

Inventors group to meet

LIBERTY — The Youngstown & Warren Inventors Association will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road. The meeting is open to the public, and there is no charge.

Nominations for award

CANFIELD — The Canfield Area Council of the Regional Chamber is accepting nomination forms for its 2009 Canfield Business Pride Award, which honors businesses for providing ethical, moral and professional standards in the workplace.
