FOOD SALES AND DINNERS
WEDNESDAY
• Southington United Methodist Church, state Route 305 at 534, will have a chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today. The menu includes a quarter chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw and homemade desserts. Meals are $7.50 for adults. Chicken tender meals for children 4 through 10 are $4. Those 3 and under eat free. Call the church at (330) 898-2156, and carryouts will be ready for pickup.
THURSDAY
• Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will have takeout dinners available from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out). The cost is $6. No need to preorder or get out of the car. Just drive to the front of the church, and your meal of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will be ready.
FRIDAY
• American Legion Post 290, state Route 14, Columbiana, kitchen is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. On Friday, meals are all-you-can-eat fish, macaroni and cheese, fries, coleslaw, dessert and beverage meals from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Takeouts are available. For more information call (330) 482-9657. Car cruise weekend is June 13 and 14, featuring ribs, chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers, a disc jockey and live music in the pavilion.
• Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.
• Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will be selling potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed early from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday at (330) 746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. This will be the last sale until September.
• St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.
• St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at (330) 747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be by 1 p.m. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance. SUNDAY
• Swiss steak dinners will be served from noon to 4 p.m or until sold out at the Poland Masonic Temple, 7685 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 years old, and free for kids 5 and under. Carryouts will be available.
TAKING ORDERS
• First United Methodist Church, 3711 state Route 46, Mineral Ridge, will be selling homemade doughnuts the first Saturday of each month. To place orders before Friday, call (330) 652-9554. The choices are cinnamon sugar, plain cake or powdered sugar. Someone will call you back to confirm your order.
• Ukrainian Orthodox League of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church will sponsor a stuffed cabbage sale June 14. Pickup will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. • Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road, Youngstown, will sponsor an authentic Amish dinner prepared by Kathryn Detweiler on June 13 with two seatings for the all-you-can-eat buffet-style meal. Seatings will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and from 6 to 7. The menu will feature roast beef, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw, green beans, homemade bread, pies and butterscotch-date pudding. The cost is $13 for adults, $7 for children 4 to 10 and free for those 3 and under. Tickets are available at the church office; the deadline is today.
