Former executive at F.N.B. Corp returns as new bank president

STAFF REPORT

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Stephen Gurgovits is returning as president and chief executive of F.N.B. Corp.

The parent company of First National Bank of Pennsylvania said Tuesday that it has completed a search for a new top executive and decided to go with its chairman of the board.

Gurgovits had been a longtime executive at the company and was its top official until he retired last year. Bob New was named to replace him, but he resigned in February. Gurgovits had taken over as interim CEO.

Gurgovits was named president of First National Bank in 1988 and then became president of the holding company in 2004.

The board of directors said it will appoint a new chairman so Gurgovits can focus on leading the day-to-day operations. An announcement is expected later this month.

Stephen Martz, chairman of the board’s search committee, said Gurgovits was selected because of his 48 years of experience with the company and his knowledge of the marketplace.

“When looking at the complexities of the economic environment and the momentum needed for F.N.B.’s continued success, Mr. Gurgovits’s qualifications are unmatched,” Martz said.

F.N.B. also announced the promotion of two corporate executives.

Vincent Delie Jr. has been promoted to executive vice president and chief revenue officer of F.N.B. Delie also serves as president, banking group for First National Bank.

Brian Lilly has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer.
