YOUNGSTOWN Police awards


Several dozen officers in the Youngstown Police Department received awards for acts of heroism and exemplary performance. The awards were given at an annual awards ceremony last week at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catechetical Center. The awards were distributed in five categories: Departmental Commendation, Meritorious Service Award, Excellent Police Duty, Lifesaving and Investigative Excellence. The recipients:

Departmental Commendation (Given to an officer who performs in an exemplary manner in any single instance or incident):

Patrolmen John Aeppli, Richard Baldwin, Kevin Bokesh, William Burton, Philip Chance, Aaron Coleman, Anthony Congemi, Russell Davis, Detective Sgt. Cynthia Dellick, Patrolmen Brad Ditullio, Jerry Fulmer, Morris Lee, Malik Mostella, Patrick Mulligan, Melissa Perez Michael Quinn, Detective Sgt. William Ross, Patrolmen Terence Russo, Anthony Tulipano, Colleen Villio, Sonia Wilson, Brian Voitus, William Ward and David Wilson.

Meritorious Service Award (Given to an officer who performs in an exemplary manner in a single instance where a high degree of initiative or police professional skill is involved):

Patrolmen John Aeppli, George Anderson, Michael Anderson, Richard Baldwin, Kevin Bokesh, Philip Chance, Russell Davis, Edward Kenney, Ryan Laatsch, Robert Lodwick, Detective Sgt. Kevin Mercer, Detective Sgt. Frank Rutherford, Patrolmen Malik Mostella, Patrick Mulligan, Lindsey Pallo, Melissa Perez, Bridget Quinn, Michael Quinn, Anthony Tulipano, Anthony Vitullo, Michael Walker and William Ward.

Investigative Excellence Award (Given to investigative officers who have performed investigations in an exemplary manner):

Patrolmen George Anderson, Assad Chaibi, Francis Bigowsky, Robert Eshenbaugh, Kevin Mercer Daniel Mikus, Richard Baldwin, Detective Sgt. Joseph Dematteo, Detective Sgt. William Blanchard and Detective Sgt. Ronald Rodway.

Excellence Police Duty Award (Given to officers who demonstrate continual, evident professional performance throughout the year, show competency in assigned duties and show unusual dedication to duty):

Patrolmen Pedro Bonilla, Joshua Kelly, Greg Miller, Douglas Pesa, Capt, Kenneth Centorame and Chief Jimmy Hughes.

Lifesaving Award: Detective Sgt. Jose Morales and Patrolman Patrick Mulligan.
