Man pleads innocent

WARREN — Michael R. Anderson, 32, of Mahoning Avenue pleaded innocent to a charge of aggravated trafficking in drugs. Police found $33,647, 10 pounds of suspected marijuana, four ounces of suspected cocaine and various other drugs at his home.

Anderson, 32, appeared Monday in Warren Municipal Court, where Judge Thomas Gysegem set bond at $2,500 and set a hearing for 10:15 a.m. July 8 on the felony charge.

Officers found the cash and suspected drugs at Anderson’s home May 21. He was arrested Monday. If convicted, he could spend 10 years in prison.

Robbers use rifles

WARREN — Two men working on a car in the driveway of a house on Pearl Street Southwest were ordered inside the house at gunpoint and robbed by three masked men, police said. The robbers had rifles during the robbery, which occurred at one minute after midnight Saturday.

Once inside the house, the three men ransacked the food pantry in the basement, smashed out the screen to a television with one of the rifles, and struck one of the victims in the forearm with a rifle, police said.

The gunmen went upstairs, where several small children were sleeping, and ransacked the kitchen and living room. The police report lists a Playstation game system and cell phone as the only items known to have been taken, police said.

Ohl Street bridge closed

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Mark Miller, director of the Mercer County Bridge Department, announced that the Ohl Street bridge here was closed to traffic Monday until further notice because the main bridge members, or floor beams, are deficient and cannot safely sustain the minimum 3-ton posting.

The Pennsylvania Vehicle Code provides the authority to close a bridge once it cannot sustain that minimum weight limit. Miller said officials are examining all options to lessen the impact to the public. The bridge was built in 1909 and is currently scheduled for replacement. The Pittsburgh firm of HDR Inc. is under contract for the design of the replacement structure and is engaged in the preliminary design activities.
