Astro wins big behind hitters, pitcher Dando
STRUTHERS — In the Class B League Monday night, the Astro Falcons defeated Action Physical Therapy 15-1.
Every Astro Falcon batter had at least one hit and Jake Dando struck out league season-high 12.
The Astro team broke a two game losing streak.
Mike Natale had two hits and drove home three runs while Jared Turocy and Philip Woods had two hits each for the winners (4-2).
Dando did not walk a batter. For Action (1-5), Mike Hartman had two hits.
1080 Media 6, Roth Brothers 4
1080 Media used a pair of three-run innings to improve to a league best 5-1.
Anthony Raschilla had a double and a single with the single driving home the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Paul Indrovic tossed three innings of scoreless relief for the win, his second on the campaign.
Bubba Uhlman had three hits and Colin Hart two to pace Roth (4-3).
Youngstown Class AA
Cory Johnson hit a home run and single, and drove in five runs to lead Youngstown Metros over Castlewood, 18-10, on Sunday at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Ross Revella added three hits, including a double, for the Metros, while Eric Pentz, Chester Kirkwood, Josh Gardner and Matt Durkin all had two hits. Joe Iacobucci had a home runs and four RBIs, and one of Kirkwood’s hits was a homer. Pentz, Durkin and Revalla all doubled.
Castlewood’s Doug Brown hit a triple and double, and drove in three runs. Adam Dando added a double, while Brian Johns and Derek Morrow both doubled.
Yo. Metros 8, Debos 6
Eric Pentz and Armani Johnson hit home runs, and Cory Johnson had three hits, including a double, for Metros.
David Leon added a double and triple for Metros, while Brad Bates hit a double.
Walt Debo hit a pair of doubles for Debos, while Andy Hiskey hit one.
Warren Class AA
Andover Angels defeated the Knights 2-0, and Cleats Club Seat Grille 1-0.
Jeremy Krol had two hits, including a double, for Knights. Angels pitcher Jim Knight struck out eight.
Cleats was held to three hits.
Marlins 10, New Hamburg Hounds 4
Sean Pelo was 3-for-4, while Chris Wiebel and Barry Adkins each had two base hits for the Marlins. Jeff Miller had three RBIs, while Tom Popadak and Wiebel each had two. One of Popadak’s hits was a double.
Brandon Keck was the winning pitcher.
Trumbull Merchants 6, New Hamburg Hounds 5
Pat Stantial went 2-for-4 with a double, Dave Nypaver was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs), and Jim Skiffey finished with two doubles.
Jim Newbrough was the winning pitcher and Steve Liebel picked up the save.
Leon’s Brewers 7, P.I.&I Express 1
Jarrett Partridge had three hits for the Brewers, including a double, and three RBIs. Bill Herman had a pair of hits, and pitcher Richard Bencia struck out nine. Mike Carnahan of PI&I had a triple and a double.
