Police have 2 suspects in slaying
YOUNGSTOWN — Police say they have two suspects in the killing of 17-year-old Asthen Jackson.
Jackson’s body was found Saturday about 1:51 p.m. Saturday behind a building at Jacobs Road and Kenyon Avenue.
The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has not released a cause of death, but a police report indicated they were investigating a homicide committed with a semiautomatic pistol.
Police said that two men, age 30 and 31, were suspects. Their addresses are known to authorities.
Neither has been charged.
Jackson disappeared a week ago Monday. He last had been seen with his mother’s former boyfriend and another man.
A caller had notified the victim’s mother and said her son’s body would be found on the city’s East Side.
A man and woman searching for the youth found his body.
Jackson was wearing a black hoodie and black pants when he left home, which he was apparently wearing when his body was found, according to police.
Two men were questioned in what Detective John Kelty said indicated a homicide.
A city officer said Sunday he knew of no new developments, but that city detectives may soon make a statement in the case.
