Part of Lincoln Avenue closing for 2 months
YOUNGSTOWN — Lincoln Avenue between Elm and Phelps streets will be closed for about two months, beginning Tuesday. The closure is necessary for the construction of an underground utility tunnel in conjunction with Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business construction project, according to the city’s public works department. Detour signs are posted.
Roads closed for race
YOUNGSTOWN — Some Mill Creek Park roads will be closed Sunday for the U.S. Cycling Federation’s annual criterium race, The Mill Creek Circuit, on the Bears Den Loop.
The following roads in the park will be closed from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.: Bears Den Road between McCollum Road and West Drive, Cross Drive and New Cross Drive.
Participants and spectators are asked to enter the MetroParks at McCollum Road and South Belle Vista Avenue and park at the Wick Recreation Area. Spectators may observe the race by walking down Wick Drive to the course. Vehicular traffic on West Drive will be maintained between Old Furnace Road and the Lily Pond and Lake Glacier.
All about rain barrels
CORTLAND — The Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District will be using something old and making it new this summer — rain barrels.
First, the district will have an information session on rain barrels at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St. Sometime in July, the district will conduct a build-our-own rain-barrel workshop.
The district will have an “Art on a Rain Barrel” contest at the Trumbull County Fair. Art-painted barrels will be auctioned at the Summer Sizzle event Aug. 8.

LORDSTOWN — The Lordstown Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 1471 Salt Springs Road, will be closed Saturdays through Sept. 5.
Summer hours at the Lordstown Branch Library will be: Monday, noon to 8 p.m. (closed for lunch from 4 to 4:30 p.m.); Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed for lunch from 1 to 1:30 p.m.); Saturday and Sunday, closed.
