A plant closing list issued by General Motors today indicates that the automaker intends to keep its Lordstown assembly and fabricating plants.

GM said it will close 14 additional plants and place two others on standby. The Lordstown complex was not on the list.

On the list were a stamping plant in Mansfield and a powertrain plant in Parma, both of which are set to close in December 2010. A distribution center in Columbus is being closed this coming December.

GM is looking to cut costs after filing for bankruptcy protection today.
