Rondinelli suffers first loss in abbreviated day at CABA

STRUTHERS — Rondinelli Tuxedo held on all game, but couldn’t manage to hang on in the end as they lost their first game of the CABA World Series, 9-8, to the Long Grove A’s on a rainy Thursday at Cene Park.

Most of Thursday’s schedule was interrupted by rain.

Astro Falcons were scheduled to start their first game of the day at 8:30 p.m., but results of that contest weren’t reported before deadline.

Nick Manuppelli started the game for Rondinelli, going 5 2/3 innings. He allowed seven runs on nine hits while walking two.

Nate Junk took the loss, allowing the winning run to score in the bottom of the seventh.

Brad Byers and Jake Double led the Rondinelli offense with three hits each. Byers drove in three runs. Eddie Reese hit a homer while Jason Bagoly added two hits and two RBIs.

Ben Dellesasse had four hits, drove in two runs, and scored once, while Jake Lemay hit a three-run homer for the Long Grove A’s, who remained undefeated for the tournament at 4-0.

The tournament is scheduled to resume today at Cene Park, weather permitting, but a schedule wasn’t provided before deadline.
