Youngstown developer buys closed Indiana plant

MUNCIE, Ind. — A closed central-Indiana auto-parts plant has been sold to a Youngstown developer who hopes to attract multiple businesses to the facility.

The BorgWarner Automotive plant in Muncie was shut down in April after transmissions had been made at the factory since 1930.

The Star Press reports that developer William Marsteller, of Youngstown, bought the 1.2 million-square-foot plant for an undisclosed amount from Auburn Hills, Mich.-based BorgWarner. Marsteller plans to rename the factory, which includes office, production and laboratory space, as the Muncie International Commerce Park.
