Ohio woman charged in $1.8M office fraud

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — An executive assistant at an Ohio property development company has been charged with stealing $1.8 million from her boss’ checking account over eight years.

Authorities say 43-year-old Karin Goeldi was charged Wednesday with aggravated theft at the Cedarwood Companies in Akron. She worked there for 11 years.

Police describe the thefts as systematic over a long period by a trusted employee.

Goeldi, who has an unlisted phone and could not be reached, was in the Summit County jail Thursday night to await release on bond. Her attorney declined to comment until reviewing the matter.
